ZEISS - a company founded 170 years ago by master mechanic Carl Zeiss, has specialized in the precision mechanical and optical industry. It is very pleasing that Carl Zeiss AG is keeping up with the times and has not forgotten the trend of the future: VR glasses. The “Made in Germany” VR glasses ZEISS VR ONE Plus definitely play in the upper league of smartphone VR glasses. The good workmanship and the principle of the “multi-bowl” is unique on this market. We show which smartphones the VR glasses are suitable for.
  • Smartphone sits perfectly in the designated shell
  • Thanks to the perfect hold, the smartphone does not slip
  • The distance and focal length of the lenses do not have to be readjusted every time
  • Removable face pad

The ZEISS VR ONE plus is still one of the most popular VR glasses. But how does this high price compare to Elegant or Pasonomi conditions? We’ll show you the differences and explain what a so-called “multi-bowl” is.

Quality has a name

ZEISS – a company founded 170 years ago by master mechanic Carl Zeiss, has specialized in the precision mechanical and optical industry.

The principle with the multi-bowl

Compared to cheaper VR glasses, the ZEISS VR ONE uses a different “multi-shell” principle. What is it? With the ZEISS VR ONE, smartphones are not clamped in, but pushed in from the side with a suitable template. This ensures a perfect hold of the smartphone. One disadvantage: there are optimized switching for certain smartphones. The universal multi-bowl again does not provide a perfect hold. However, if you have the right smartphone, you can look forward to the advantages of the ZEISS VR ONE:

Advantages of the ZEISS VR ONE plus:

A special feature definitely ensures a qualitative competitive advantage over most VR glasses in the range under € 200 -> the principle of multi-shells. We have summarized the advantages that result from this for you, provided you have the right smartphone:

  • Smartphone sits perfectly in the designated shell
  • Thanks to the perfect hold, the smartphone does not slip
  • The distance and focal length of the lenses do not have to be readjusted every time
  • Removable face pad

Disadvantages of the ZEISS VR ONE plus:

  • No removable front part of the VR glasses, so dust collects and can lead to overheating on the smartphone.
  • Full use of the multi-switching principle is only possible with the right smartphone.

Why is the ZEISS VR ONE so “expensive”?

To be honest, we don’t know either. The glasses have significant flaws even compared to the Elegiant, Shinecon and Pasonomi. People report problems such as the inability to remove the front of the glasses. Any augmented reality applications are therefore not possible, and some smartphones can overheat during use and switch themselves off. But one of the biggest shortcomings with this is that it becomes extremely difficult to clean the lenses. Dust can collect there and cannot be removed.

The reason why the ZEISS is so expensive may be due to its special design. As we have reported several times (including: VR glasses resolution ), the glasses themselves are not the most important factor for a sensational VR experience. You just have to be careful that the smartphone has a decent pixel density (see: The best VR smartphones (cardboard)). ZEISS is a big name and exudes quality. The VR experience cannot be denied here, because the multi-shells actually ensure an optimized hold of smartphones. But if you look at the “basic version” without the multi-tray, you only have to pay a price of around € 60. The complex and qualitative design shows how different the price can be.

Does the ZEISS VR ONE have a magnetic switch?

By default there is none. There is a variant with a magnetic switch on Amazon, but this again has no headband. We don’t understand this logic either. No problem, a suitable magnetic switch can be ordered for the ZEISS VR ONE. The switch is here: ZEISS VR ONE magnetic switch

Which smartphone is suitable for the ZEISS VR One Plus?

Basically, a smartphone should have a display of over 5 inches and a pixel density of 500 ppi. You can find more details here: VR Handy – It should be able to do it

Why does a smartphone have to have a high pixel density? This is important so that the picture is sharp. You can read why this is so here: VR glasses resolution
