The Apple iPhone 13 has changed very little compared to the Apple iPhone 12. Switching from iPhone 12 to iPhone 13 really doesn't pay off. As far as virtual reality is concerned, the iPhone 13 does basically as well as the iPhone 12. The resolution is not the best, but the A15 chipset provides enough power, so any VR application runs smoothly.

The Apple iPhone 13 brings a few improvements with it again. What exactly, you can find out here.

Apple iPhone 13 – Small notch, slightly better performance

As usual, the Apple iPhone 13 brings only small improvements over the previous model. Almost nothing has changed in the design. Only the notch has become a bit narrower, which doesn’t really make it nicer and it still looks like a smartphone from 2017.

As with the predecessor, the dimensions of the case are 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 mm. It has become 10 grams heavier, but is still 20 grams lighter than the iPhone 11. The back is made of gorilla glass. It is again IP68 certified, which means it is dustproof and waterproof up to 6 meters deep.

The Apple iPhone 13 has stereo speakers, one speaker element is on the underside, the second is the speaker in the notch. The sound quality is quite ok. You can’t connect headphones, of course, because there’s an Apple iPhone and you AirPods need to get or other bluetooth headphones.

The Apple iPhone 13 uses the A15 Bionic chipset with a hexacore processor and 4 GB of RAM. This delivers enough power and ensures a smooth experience. But the graphics chip is not quite as strong as that of the Pro and Pro Max versions. The iPhone 13 is no longer available with just 64 GB, but the base model already has 128 GB. Otherwise there are variants with 256 GB or 1512 GB.

Display: Almost the same as the iPhone 12; only 60 Hz

The display of the Apple iPhone 13 is a bit brighter than that of the iPhone 12, the contents of the display can be read very well even in bright sunlight. Otherwise nothing has changed. With a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels and a display size of 6.1 inches, the result is a display density of 460 ppi, which is not very exciting for virtual reality, but is still acceptable.

In addition, only the Pro version of the iPhone 12 has a 120 Hz display. With the normal version only 60 Hz are possible, very weak for the price.

camera

As usual with iPhones, the iPhone 13 also has great camera equipment. The 12 MP camera and the 12 MP ultra-wide-angle mode ensure comparatively great shots. Compared to the previous model, not much has changed here either, apart from a larger camera sensor. However, the larger sensor has not brought any visible improvements. Even in night mode, everything looks the same as in the previous model. The selfies are

Thanks to image stabilization, there are no major wobbles in videos. In addition, with the help of 4 microphones, the sound recording is focused on the image that is currently being recorded. Disturbing background noises coming from behind are therefore suppressed, which leaves a very good impression on the videos. Videos with 4k are possible with up to 60 frames per second. The new feature “Cinematic Mode” can be used with up to 1080p and 30 frames per second. This is a mode that, similar to portrait mode, blurs the background in real time for photos.

Does the switch from the Apple iPhone 12 to the Apple iPhone 13 pay off?

no

Is the Apple iPhone 11 suitable for VR?

The size of the iPhone 13 and performance thanks to the Apple A15 Bionic and the Apple GPU fit very well for virtual reality. Even the display could be used reasonably well on the iPhone 13, although the resolution of 1170×2532 pixels and only 60 Hz is not the best. Even so, it can be used quite acceptably for VR.
