Samsung Galaxy A10 – The mid-range smartphone with an almost borderless design makes a solid impression. There are, however, drawbacks, such as B. the display. You can find out whether it is suitable for VR here.

With the A series, Samsung offers a great and affordable alternative to the high-end models. However, there are always compromises in the quality of the display, performance and camera.

The case of the Samsung Galaxy A10 is made of plastic and it has a 6.2-inch display that (unlike a Galaxy S10, for example) only has an LCD display instead of an OLED display.

The Exynos 7884 does an acceptable job for everyday use, the operation sometimes jerks relatively strongly. Unfortunately, performance-hungry games bring him to his knees. For today’s standards, 2 GB of RAM is only the minimum requirement for the smartphone to work reasonably well. The 32 GB internal storage space will be used up very quickly for videos and pictures, but the storage space can be expanded with an SD card.

The display of the Galaxy A10

The display is not an AMOLED or OLED display, as is the case with the higher-priced mobile phones from Smasung, but LCD technology is used here. It is cheaper and does not have an excellent contrast ratio. Black is z. B. rather gray, which is currently known from most televisions or computer monitors. With AMOLED, black is actually almost black. The color depth is generally not as deep as in the more expensive models – that is of course a question of the price. Another disadvantage for VR: the response time of LCD displays is relatively high, with fast movements you can see an after-glow effect that blurs the image.

Furthermore, the resolution is just 720 x 1520 pixels, which results in a pixel density of approx. 271 ppi with a display size of 6.2 inches. For comparison: A Galaxy S10 has a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels, with a display size of 6.1 inches this results in a pixel density of approx. 550 ppi. Samsung Galaxy A10 camera

The Galaxy S10 only has a single camera on the back, which has 13 megapixels. It is enough for a few snapshots, but you shouldn’t expect impressive pictures that you can process or present beautifully later. The front camera with its 5 MP is ok for video telephony and simple selfies.

You can forget the videos altogether – jerky, little detail, dark and noise.

Conclusion – is it good for VR?

At this point we unfortunately have to state that the Galaxy A10 is not very suitable for VR. It is a very good smartphone for everyday use if you don’t put too much emphasis on a colorful, sharp display, but due to the performance and the “functional” display, you don’t need to expect a good VR experience.

The rather weaker values have a positive effect – the battery really lasts for a very long time due to the low performance, 15 hours are easily inside with normal use without having to charge. For people who do not have high demands, it should fit very well.
