The Samsung Galaxy A21s is another low-budget variant. It has a lot to offer for less than € 200, but you shouldn’t expect any miracles.
Samsung Galaxy A21s – good features at a low price?
The design looks decent despite the low price, but the plastic housing doesn’t feel very high quality. In addition, you leave a lot of fingerprints on the plastic housing.
There is a fingerprint scanner on the back that works reliably. The Galaxy A21s also offers unlocking through face recognition, which can, however, also be unlocked with a simple photo. There is also a connection for a 3.5 mm jack plug on the underside. This means you can easily plug in your headphones.
The processor is an Exynos 850 developed by Samsung, the size of the RAM is 3 GB. That is sufficient for the general operation of the smartphone. But you feel very strongly that this is a weak model. Jerking is inevitable in complex games. With only 32 GB of storage space, video recordings quickly reach their limits. You can expand the storage space with a memory card.
The rather weak equipment has something positive with it. Since the low-performance components require less power, the 5000 mAh battery ensures comparatively long runtimes. In standby up to 119 hours, while watching video and surfing the web it is approx. 18 hours each.

Samsung Galaxy A21s display – according to the price
With a size of 6.5 inches, the Galaxy A21s offers just 720 x 1600 pixels, which corresponds to a pixel density of just 270ppi. You can see the pixels very clearly here (you can find out why pixel density is important here: resolution .
Contrast and color depth are not that good. Only a weak PLS IPS display was installed, which, in contrast to AMOLED, does not allow deep black values and no bright colors. It is difficult to see anything on the dark display in sunlight.
What is the camera of the Galaxy A21s like?
Samsung has packed 4 cameras on the back. The main camera has 48 MP (f / 2.0, 26mm, 1 / 2.0 “, 0.8µm, PDAF), the ultra-wide angle 8 MP (f / 2.2, 123˚, 1 / 4.0”, 1.12µm). You can also take close-ups with the macro camera (2 MP, f / 2.4). Another 2 MP camera is already available as an auxiliary camera, e.g. B. for macro shots or portrait photos. A camera for zoom photos is missing, however, and the digital zoom is unfortunately very unsatisfactory. Otherwise, the photos are surprisingly good overall and you wouldn’t expect them from a € 200 smartphone. Videos can be recorded in full HD (1080p) at 30 frames per second.
On the front is a single 13MP selfie camera that can record videos up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Conclusion
If you don’t value the display and the performance, but are looking for a smartphone with a long battery life and a reasonably good camera for less than 200 €, the Galaxy A21s is the right choice.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A21s suitable for VR?
The low display density (only 270 ppi) and the weak processor performance are unfortunately very bad for a good VR experience.
