The OnePlus 6 follows the trend of the almost borderless display in a contemporary way and also has a 'notch' on the top. There, the display runs around the speaker, selfie camera, proximity and brightness sensors. With its very minimalist and elegant design, it certainly meets the taste of those who simply love it.

OnePlus was initially known that you can buy the smartphone only with an invitation. From the OnePlus 3, this method was abolished and anyone could purchase the smartphone. The plan was to always keep the prices under € 300, which seems mediocre no longer possible. With a price of about 500 € this smartphone delivers an impressive price-performance ratio. The 16 megapixel camera shoots great photos and can also record 4k videos with 60 frames per second.

Amoled display (almost) without edge

The OnePlus 6 has an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. This results in an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and unfortunately only one pixel density only 402 ppi. The special aspect ratio is achieved because, as with other new smartphones, a “notch” is used, where the display on the upper edge of the front camera excludes sensors. On request, the Notch can also be completely disabled, which makes the display then logically smaller.

The display is conditionally suitable for VR, because the pixel density of only 402 results in a blurred image in VR.

Attractive price

With a price of only about 500 €, the OnePlus 6 as a premium smartphone uses an impressive price-performance ratio. Other smartphones in this class are 800 €

OnePlus 6 VR – is it suitable for Virtual Reality?

The AMOLED display of the OnePlus 6 is very well suited for VR in terms of color and response time. The size of 6.28 inches is also a very good size, where you can experience VR content well. The only drawback is the slightly lower pixel density of only 402 ppi.

Nevertheless, there is nothing to say badly about the smartphone for VR beginners or those who just want to test it from time to time.

Conclusion

The OnePlus 6 certainly plays in the upper league with its premium equipment. Unfortunately, the resolution of the display is not high enough to use for the best VR experience. But there are plus points in this respect for the AMOLED display, which provides for a better experience with VR with its fast response time and high contrasts. The camera also delivers very good results, even if it is not the best on the market. With the OxygenOS 5 you can enjoy a slightly adapted Android, without much bloatware (pre-installed apps) to accept.
